HNU will provide housing to approximately 50 UC Berkeley students for the duration of the 2016–2017 academic year. The UC Berkeley students will live on the HNU campus in Feehan Hall and on separate floors from HNU students, though they will share common area space with HNU students.
The arrangement between HNU and UC Berkeley came about through mutual need. UC Berkeley increased its enrollment and requires more housing options for students; HNU anticipated slightly lower housing numbers for this academic year and sought a creative solution to the shortfall.
HNU Director of Housing and Residence Life Justin Vacca is optimistic about the agreement. “I’m excited about this partnership. I think it will provide a great opportunity for our students to meet and develop relationships with students from a geographically similar but very different and diverse school like the University of California, Berkeley. I am anticipating a positive experience for all students living on campus at Holy Names University this academic year.”
