Bio
Dr Zaida McCall-Perez is an Educational Consultant specializing in English Language Learners and Special Education. She is a teacher, a teacher-educator, a researcher, and a published author. She is the founder and former Principal of a nationally recognized newcomer center in the Bay Area, and has served at K-12 as Director of English Learner programs and also as the Director of Special Education and Compliance. At the University level she has been an Associate Professor and Director of Crosscultural/ESL Teacher preparation programs. She assists schools and districts in the development of programs for English Learners and in the identification and elimination of systemic barriers to their success. Her research interests focus on secondary educational school reform and the educational experiences of adolescent immigrant students.
