Research and/or Scholarly Activity
Charles' areas of interest include the global perspective, power and powerlessness, race and ethnicity, and social science methods. His dissertation, "Power and the Spirit: Methodological Studies in a Black Apostolic Church ," examines the organization of the Holy Ghost in an African American religious community. He has also written on topics in cultural sociology and deviance and social control.
