Bora Kara grew up in Istanbul, Turkey. Bora traveled to the US in 2000 to pursue his education and, after some eccentric English lessons, transferred to Holy Names University in the Fall of 2003. “When I arrived in the United States I began watching American sitcoms to help with my English vocabulary. I learned some of my first conversational English lessons from watching Seinfeld!” Bora is currently pursuing his MBA in Finance at Santa Clara University while working as a financial coordinator for Cohn and Wolfe Worldwide Public Relations Agency in San Francisco. “HNU gave me the opportunity to work with an extremely diverse group of people both in and out of the classroom. Because of my experiences in diversity I am able to be the problem solver who values ideas other than my own and who can work with everyone.” Bora was involved in nearly every leadership opportunity available to students. “Holy Names helped me to discover the type of leader I wanted to become. Now, I lead with integrity and a positive spirit, and I use my leadership to make a difference in my work and in the community.” Bora strongly encourages HNU students today to get involved in campus life. “What you do at HNU has the power to help you for the rest of your life!”
