Hawks
Have Strong Showing in Last NAIA Region II Meet
Fresno , CA -
HNU runners competed at the NAIA Region II Championships at Woodward
Park in Fresno , CA on Saturday. The race was held by Fresno Pacific
University Sunbirds who always do a great job hosting this meet.
The Hawks finished 11th overall
with 321 points. The winner of the race was Azusa Pacific with (57)
points. The women ran their hearts out and were led by freshman
Rebecca D'Silva who finished 51 st overall with a time of 20:26
while battling a right calf strain. Just a few seconds behind was
senior Emma Madison (57th, 21:03), followed by sophomore Chenique
Jackson who has improved tremendously since her freshman year (73rd,
23:36), freshman Jenna Pasillas placed (77th, 24:28), senior Stephanie
Jimenez placed (84th, 28:02) and Junio Shirley Knight (85th, 29:59).
The men were led by freshman
Miguel Solis who finished 63 rd overall with a time of 29:08 while
battling shin splits. Solis was followed by freshman Juan Monje
(76th, 32:24).
Head Coach Sergio Segura
commented after the race, “This race had great meaning as it was
the last collegiate cross-country race for seniors Emma Madison
and Stephanie Jimenez. Additionally, this is the last year that
the NAIA will have a regional meet for cross-country to qualify
for nationals. All our runners showed tremendous determination.
Their courage, willingness to improve and positive attitude is very
contagious and it shows within the team. Every runner in this team
deserves to be recognized individually along with their assistant
coaches Marcela Becerra and Claudia Davila!”
Next up for the Hawks is
to start their preparation for Track & Field in two weeks

Named to All-Conference Awards, Coach of the Year to Segura
Belmont , CA -
The HNU Men and Women competed at the Cal-Pac Championships at Crystal
Springs in Belmont , CA on Saturday. The Hawks finished 4 th overall
with 88 points behind first place CSU East Bay (57), Simpson College
(69), and Menlo College (78).
The Women were led by freshman
Rebecca D'Silva who finished 6 th overall with a time of 20:03.
D'Silva was followed by senior Emma Madison (8th, 20:46), freshman
Jenna Pasillas (19th, 22:44), sophomore Chenique Jackson (27th,
23:40), senior Stephanie Jimenez (39th, 27:39) and senior Shirley
Knight (41st, 28:51).
The Men were led by freshman
Miguel Solis who finished 5 th overall with a time of 29:22. Solis
was followed by freshman Juan Monje (14th, 31:26).
“Our women ran their hearts
out today,” said Head Coach Sergio Segura. “I'm really proud of
them.”
Both Rebecca D'Silva and
Miguel Solis were awarded Cal-Pac First Team All-Conference. Emma
Madison, as well as Juan Monje were awarded Cal-Pac Second Team
All-Conference.

was named Men's Cross-Country Coach of The Year.

Runners
Finish 2nd at own 5th Annual HNU Cross-Country Invitational
Oakland , CA -
The HNU men and women finished second at their own Holy Names University
5th Annual Cross-Country Invitational held at Bort Meadow in Anthony
Chabot Regional Park. On the women's side, Menlo College won with
35 points followed by host Holy Names (39) and Pacific Union College
(48). The men finished behind the running club Thunderbirds (27)
with 29 points.
The Hawks were led by freshman
Rebecca D'Silva who finished 3 rd overall with a time of 20:35.
D'Silva was followed by senior Emma Madison (4th, 20:59), freshman
Jenna Pasillas (6th, 23:29), sophomore Chenique Jackson (10th, 24:42)
and senior Stephanie Jimenez (16th, 30:02).
The HNU Men were led by freshman
Miguel Solis, who ran a spectacular race finishing first with a
time of 28:19—an 86 second improvement from his last race. Solis
was followed by junior Andreas Lannehed (5 th, 30:35), freshman
Juan Monje (6th, 30:37), freshman Julio Perez (12th, 39:05) and
senior Omar Vargas (15th, 44:15).
“Both men and women have
significantly improved over a short period of time,” said assistant
coach Marcela Becerra. “They're a young team and still have space
for more improvement.”
Next up for the Hawks is
the Cal Pac Championships at Crystal Springs on Friday, October
26th .

Women
Place Second in Cal Pac Preview Meet
Crystal Springs,
CA - The HNU Women placed second in the Cal Pac Preview
Meet thisFriday at Crystal Springs with 71 points behind Sacramento
City College (64). The Hawks came out on top beating all the Cal
Pac teams, including third place East Bay (72), Menlo College (85),
Simpson University (91) and Pacific Union (105).
The Hawks were led by senior
Emma Madison who placed 6 th overall with a time of 20:35. Madison
was followed by freshman Rebecca D'Silva (8th, 20:38), the much
improved sophomore Chenique Jackson (10th, 20:50), freshman Jenna
Pasillas (20th, 23:49) and senior Stephanie Jimenez (32nd, 29:18).
“Our women ran well today,
it was a learning experience for this young team,” said Head Coach
Sergio Segura. “In two weeks they will be well rested, so we should
see some improvement.”
The HNU men were led by freshman
Miguel Solis who placed 6 th overall with a time of 29:45, followed
by freshman Juan Monje (22nd , 33:10).
Next up for the Hawks is
the Holy Names Invitational in Oakland on October 19.

Hawks
Compete in S. F. State Invitational
San Francisco , CA
- On Saturday, both HNU men and women cross-country teams
traveled across the Bay to compete in the San Francisco State University
Invitational at Golden Gate Park . The top three teams on the women's
side were USF with 48 points, followed by the University of California
(71) and Chico State (114).
The Hawks were led by freshman
Rebecca D'Silva who finished 46 th overall with a time of 25:01,
followed by senior Emma Madison (59 th , 25:39), sophomore Chenique
Jackson (101 st , 29:19) and senior Stephanie Jimenez (106 th ,
40:19).
The men were led by freshman
Miguel Solis who finished 72 nd overall with a time of 29:43, followed
by freshman Juan Monje (80th, 31:30).
“Both men and women responded
well to such diverse competition,” said Head Coach Sergio Segura.
“They beat some quality runners, whichshows that they have promising
careers.”
Next up for the Hawks is
the Cal Pac Preview meet at Crystal Springs on Friday, October 12.
