also will serve as Associate Athletic Director and Sports Information
Director (SID). "I am very excited to be the inaugural

a program from scratch is both exhilarating and challenging.
I look forward to making contact with prospective athletes to
determine if the education and softball at Holy Names is the
right fit for them. My duties as Assistant AD and SID will also
immerse me in all things that are Holy Names University Athletics
and I am eager to help make HNU the place to be for a quality
education and a successful athletics experience," said Coach
Gregor.
Athletic Director Martin said that, "I believe that Melanie’s
wealth of knowledge and her Community College contacts will
bring a solid start to our softball program. I am excited about
bringing more opportunities to young female athletes in the
bay area."

start of women’s softball at the university as "Another
step in our continuing effort to strengthen our athletics programs."
She added, "We are proud to be part of the NAIA and its Champions
of Character program, which instills an understanding of character
values in sport and provides practical tools for student-athletes,
coaches and parents to use in modeling exemplary character traits."
Coach Gregor was head coach and physical education instructor
at Contra Costa College from 2003-2007 and also was head women’s
varsity volleyball coach at the Athenian School in Danville
