Ngetich Qualifies For Nationals
Makes 2nd Straight Appearance
Willam Ngetich qualified for his second straight NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship as announced by the NAIA today. Ngetich placed 15th at the NAIA Region II championships last Saturday running a 25:27 over the 8K course. Ngetich missed a spot on the All-Region team by 2.5 seconds and had to wait and see if he would be invited to the dance.
Ngetich, who also won his second straight Cal Pac individual championship this year, finished 16th in last year's National Championship making him an NAIA 1st Team All-American, the first in school history. The Kenyan native also was named an NAIA Outdoor Track & Field All-American in the Men's 5,000 meter.

Finishes First in Rocklin
Rocklin, CA - William Ngetich won his second straight California Pacific Conference Men's Cross Country Individual Championship hosted by William Jessup University. Ngetich, a 2005 NAIA All-American, ran a 27:22.60 over the 8k course well ahead of Jessup's Joe Kaufman who placed second with a 28:09.78.
Ngetich now will set his sights on a regional championship held in Fresno November 4th. Ngetich placed 3rd at last years regional race. The Kenya native is also automatically placed on the 2006 All-Cal Pac 1st Team by virtue of his championship finish. For championship race complete results click here.
Ngetich Takes Fourth at Mills
Runs Just 2nd Race of the Year
2005 NAIA All-American William Ngetich returned to the trails Friday after a month off to recuperate from injuries. The Kenyan native finished a strong fourth out of the 34 runner field with a time of 28:14 over the 8k course.
Holy Names red shirt Daryl Sanchez, running the invitational unattached, ran a 31:58 and then set a new PR the very next day at the Santa Clara Invitational with a 30:17.

Jessup's Kaufman Crosses First
Oakland, CA - Santa Clara University runners took four of the top 6 spots at the 4th Annual Holy Names University Invitational Friday en route to a decisive team victory. William Jessup finished second in the team scoring with Menlo College taking third. Jessup's Joe Kaufman took the individual title with a time of 26:30 over the 8k course, just ten seconds off the course record pace. HNU's Lenin Zapata ran a 26:20 last year.
Santa Clara's Danny Smith finished second with a 27:17 while CSU East Bay's Marco Gomez's 27:24 was good for third.

Ngetich Takes Third at Warrior Open
All-American Competes in First Race
Turlock, CA - 2005 NAIA All-American William Ngetich took home third place at the 2006 Warrior Open 3K hosted by CSU Stanislaus. Ngetich ran an 8:56.90 on the short course behind only unattached Manny Lopez's 8:44.10 and the race's winner, Stanislaus' Bobby Lopez who ran an 8:38.90.
