If you’d like to speak to someone regarding personal concerns, Counseling and Psychological Services offers confidential individual and group therapy. As a Holy Names student, you are eligible for up to ten counseling sessions each academic year free of charge.
Counseling staff additionally offer crisis intervention and assessment and referral to community resources, as well as outreach programs to the Holy Names community on topics such as coping with depression, healthy relationships, and managing stress.

All personal information is confidential. No information will be released unless you give us written authorization to do so. The only time this is not true is if someone is at risk of grave harm to themselves or others. In these cases the law requires counselors to break confidentiality |

In the Event of an Emergency
When the Counseling Center is closed, you may choose to call 911, go to your nearest hospital emergency room, or use the local 24-hour crisis support hotline by calling (800) 309-2131. If you are a campus resident, you may also call Thomas Cunningham, Director of Campus Life and Civic Engagement, at (510) 436-1294; or Marrisa Brown, Coordinator of Residence Life, at (510) 436-1442. In any of these situations you are encouraged to also call the Counseling Center at (510) 436-1530 as soon as possible to alert the staff that you are need in of help. |
