6:00pm Oxfam Hunger Banquet
Bay Vista Room

A Hunger Banquet is a dramatization of the inequality that perpetuates poverty in the world. Guests are assigned roles as they enter the banquet , these roles represent different income levels around the world. What each person receives for dinner depends on the role they are playing, so while some have more than they can eat, others don't have enough to eat or any food at all. A Hunger Banquet is an interactive opportunity for people to see and feel first hand the effects of poverty. It also offers the unique opportunity for people to take a problem and work together to generate solutions.

The Great American Sleep Out is another dramatization of the inequality that perpetuates poverty in the world. Students spend the night sleeping outdoors in boxes and learn how it feels to sleep on the ground, with no shelter.

5:30pm Thanksgiving Dinner Skyroom/Cafeteria

This week provides us with many opportunities to reflect as a community about the serious issues of hunger and homelessness in our local, national and global community. At this time of year it is also important that we take time to gather together in thanks for our HNU community, and all that we do to support and nurture one another, at the annual HNU Thanksgiving Dinner. This year the event will be served "family style" so sign up for a table with the people you are thankful for...

Table sign up will be located in the Cafeteria from 11/7/07– 11/12/07 ~ You Must Sign Up Before 11/12

This event is FREE for Commuter Students
