First, thanks to campus webmaster Deirdre Spencer for moving the library’s former “Faculty Technology Development” blog to the hnu.edu webspace and giving it a spiffy new design! It also has a new title, Hawk Bytes, and will also be featuring guest contributors.
Now to the announcement: faculty and staff are advised that Collaborate, Blackboard’s interactive, real-time web-based online learning product, is available in Blackboard through late December 2011 through a campus-wide pilot.
Collaborate (formerly Elluminate) is used widely for online instruction, but it is also used for tutoring, advising, online group study, prerecorded sessions to cover instructor absences, meetings, and any other setting where people need to meet in real-time but cannot meet face-to-face.
Anyone with access to Blackboard is welcome to explore and use Collaborate. To set up a Collaborate session, within Blackboard go to Control Panel/Course Tools/Blackboard Collaborate.
