Mac Tip #5: Talking Text!

Did you know that you can copy text (from a browser, email, word document etc.) paste it into the Mac’s TextEdit program and then have the text spoken to you?! Not only is this a good accessibility tool, but it can sometimes be useful to hear what you have written before you send it!1) Select and copy (command button + c) the text that you would like spoken.2) Open the TextEdit program:Click on the Spotlight Icon Type “TextEdit” in the search box.Click TextEdit in the results list. (TextEdit is similar to Notepad in Windows)3)  Once TextEdit has opened, paste your text into the document (command button + v).4) Click the Edit menu.5) Click Speech, then click Start Speaking. Your words will come to life!
