Library Hawk Squawk, 11/28/12: Extended Finals Hours, New “Best” Books, Student Reading

BOOKS GALORE: We just received a pile of excellent pleasure reading, including many “best of” books, such as Best American Short Stories and Best Food Writing, and more good stuff is on the way.

Don’t despair if you can’t enjoy these books now, because we again are offering extended holiday checkouts. Library books and DVDs you check out or renew on or after Monday, December 3 will not be due back until Monday, January 14, 2013.

Also visit our Overdrive collection at to see the newest additions to our tablet- and Kindle-friendly ebook service — books you can check out any time, any place!

Tuesday, December 4, 7:30 – 8:30: We’re holding a reading of new work by students from ENGL 202, the graduate feature writing workshop taught by Laurie Seidler. Readers include Alexandria Jacobs, Celina WhiteNunley, Gretchen Bailey, and Julius Irving. Light refreshments served. Arrive late, leave early… it’s all good.

Extended finals hours: Need a quiet place to study during crunch time? The Library will be open until 10 pm Monday through Thursday nights during finals, effective Monday, December 3 through Thursday, December 14.

So we can upgrade those antique computers with shiny new iMacs, the Library Classroom will close  Monday, December 3 and will reopen Wednesday, January 2.

We will post the library’s winter break schedule in early December.
