The Cushing Library will be open our usual summer hours during this weekend’s scheduled Internet downtime. We can do manual checkouts for books, DVDs, board games, and other items. How about a good book, or a game of Twister or Monopoly? Or curl up in one of our new armchairs with a popular magazine such as Elle, MacWorld, Sports Illustrated, Vanity Fair, etc. We’re open Friday 12-5 and Saturday 10-3, closed Sunday, and open Monday 12-6.
We are also pleased to announce that the library has been awarded a SPARKS! Ignition Grant for “Flipped Info Lit,” a proposal for creating digital learning objects (small multimedia videos created with lecture capture software) to complement and extend the reach of our library instruction. We are partnering with the Nursing program and the Athletics department on this project, with support from Campus IT. More to follow!
This project, which will be executed 8/1/13 through 7/31/14, is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 123,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. Through grant making, policy development, and research, IMLS helps communities and individuals thrive through broad public access to knowledge, cultural heritage, and lifelong learning.
