Text-a-Librarian, and Three Events This Week and Next

NEW! Text, chat, or email a librarian! Get your research help online from wherever you happen to be. From our main webpage (library.hnu.edu) see the grey “Ask a Librarian” tab on the right. You can also text the librarians from your phone at 510-746-8103. They will respond to chats and texts right away when the desk is covered (most afternoons and evenings) and within a day or two when it’s not.

The Disconnect Experiment
Thursday, October 10, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm: HNU Visiting scholar Anne E. Patrick, SNJM, Ph.D. will lead a short film showing and a discussion about a student experiment on avoiding all computers for several weeks; discussion of computer addiction, multitasking, etc. Cookies and beverages provided.

Affordable Care Act Discussion
Monday, October 14, 12:30 pm – 1:20 pm: A lunchtime brownbag discussion of “Obamacare,” led by Dr. Charles Sarno and Vishu Lalchandani. Sponsored by Latin American and Latino/a Studies and the Center for Social Justice and Civic Engagement. Light refreshments served.

Student Poetry Reading
Tuesday, October 15, 7 pm – 8:30 pm: Students of Kathy Garlick’s 201B graduate class in poetry will read from their work. Wine and cheese served.
