Holy Names University is delighted to announce the upcoming official Inauguration and Investiture of William J. Hynes, Ph.D., as the 17th President of Holy Names University. The Inauguration Committee has orchestrated two key events that will not only officially welcome President Hynes to HNU, but also celebrate HNU’s legacy of social justice and civic engagement:

Inauguration Program and Reception
A formal program in the Valley Center for the Performing Arts (VCPA) Regents’ Theater followed by a Celebratory Reception in VCPA lobby and Studio Theatre featuring a pictorial display of HNU history and civic engagement/moments in time.

Community Service Day
HNU faculty, staff, students and the Oakland community are invited to demonstrate HNU’s commitment to community service by taking part in a Lake Merritt clean-up in partnership with the Lake Merritt Institute.
We invite all to participate and celebrate in this auspicious occasion. More information will be made available in upcoming weeks.

Founded in 1868 by six French Canadian Sisters of the Holy Names, the University has grown to 1216 undergraduate and master level students. Known for its excellent education rooted in the liberal arts and Catholic traditions, HNU challenges students of all ages, races, religions and cultures to use their belief in human equality, social justice, and civic engagement to liberate their spirits and transform our world.
