Membership and Membership Benefits
Membership in the International Society for Humor Studies is open to educators, health professionals, managers, writers, performers, students, and others interested in the advancement of humor studies and research. Members receive:
    

• a subscription to the quarterly journal, Humor: International Journal of Humor Research
• reduced registration fees to annual ISHS International Humor Conferences
• reduced fees to ISHS-sponsored workshops and seminars
• discounts on books in the Humor Research series published by Mouton-DeGruyter,
  the Humor in Life and Letters series published by Wayne State Press,
  the Humor Studies series published by Transaction Publishers, and
  selected titles from other publishing houses
• access to bibliographies of humor research across major disciplines
• a membership list with regularly updated contact information

Membership Dues

ISHS is pleased to provide to all of our new and continuing members for 2013 the choice of either a print or online subscription to the Society's journal, HUMOR. All Regular Members who renew on or before January 31 for the 2013 membership year, may renew for $100 with a print subscription or for $60 with an electronic online subscription to HUMOR. After Janaury 31, the fees increase to $105 and $65, respectively. New ISHS members, who join the Society for the first time in 2013, may join at the discounted Janaury rate. Please note that the $5 is not automatic and must be indicated by the member on the application.

If you joined ISHS in the past as a student member, you can still join ISHS as a regular member with either a print or online subscription. However, because of the new delivery options for HUMOR, the Society is no longer able to provide discounted student rates as in previous years.

The International Society for Humor Studies maintains directories of all Regular and Associate ISHS members with their addresses and telephone numbers. Our website lists contain only the names, affiliations, and internet information for ISHS Members and active Associates from 2009 through 2013 plus the editors for the Society's journal, HUMOR. Current ISHS members may request the complete membership directory with all contact information from the ISHS Executive Secretary.
