Steven Hofer received his BM in Music Composition with honors in 1992 from California State University, Northridge where he studied with Dr. Daniel Kessner. He continued at CSUN to complete his MM in Music Composition in 1994, when he was also named Outstanding Graduate Student in Music. He went on to study at the University of California, Santa Barbara with William Kraft, and received a Ph.D. in Music Composition in 2000. While at UCSB he received several Corwin Composition Awards. He taught for four years at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, where he was an Assistant Professor, Head of the Department of Music, and Director of Instrumental Music. He is currently an Associate Professor at Holy Names University where he serves as Chair of the Department of Music, teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in music and is the Music Director of the HNU Orchestra.
