Services
- Orientation & Instruction Program
Reference Librarians provide classes for students, faculty and staff in the use and evaluation of print and online resources. Instruction in subject-specific resources, tailored to the needs of a specific class, is also provided at faculty request. Please contact the Library Circulation Desk to sign up for a group orientation or to schedule an individual appointment.
- Reference Assistance
Librarians are available to assist students with research methodology and use of library resources. They also provide necessary referrals to specialized collections in other libraries. To ensure that your research needs are met, call for an appointment in advance. Drop-in assistance will be provided whenever possible. Reference questions may also be submitted by phone or e-mail.
- Book Renewal
Books may be renewed by telephone if they are not overdue. Contact the Circulation Desk (510-436-1332) with the "Date Due" information and the staff will renew them.
- Inter-Library Loan
HNU students, faculty and staff may obtain materials not available at Cushing Library from other libraries through inter-library loan. Delivery of materials may take up to 3 weeks. Any fee charged by the lending library is passed on to the HNU user. For assistance, contact Catriona Wendroff, Reference and Instruction Librarian.
