On Thursday, May 31, 2012, Dr. Kitty Kelly Epstein was one of eight women publicly recognized by Black Women Organized for Political Action (BWOPA) for her work as a professor, author and activist. Recipients for this award also included Oakland Mayor, Jean Quan. Founded in 1968, BWOPA’s primary goal is to educate, train, and involve as many African American women as possible in the political process. This statewide, non-profit advocacy and membership organization promotes the understanding that everything that affects the quality of life is, in most ways, political.
This is the 3rd Annual Awards Luncheon that features powerful women of the Bay.
