2014 HNU Soccer and Women’s Volleyball Schedules Released

The 2014 Holy Names University (HNU) soccer programs and the Women’s Volleyball team have released their 2014 season schedules.

HNU Soccer

Newly-hired head coach Gabe Romo’s debut takes place in Rocklin where the HNU women’s soccer team faces Corban (Ore.) in an exhibition game on August 20. Immediately following the women’s match, the men’s soccer team faces William Jessup, also an exhibition match.

The season officially starts on Thursday, September 4, when the Hawks play at Cal Poly Pomona. The women’s match kicks off at 4 p.m., followed by the men’s match at 6:30 p.m.

The first home soccer match for men takes place on September 13 at 1:30 p.m. HNU hosts Saint Katherine in non-conference play.

On Thursday, September 25, HNU opens Pacific West Conference play for both soccer teams in a home doubleheader. HNU will play BYU-Hawaii; the men’s match starts at 11 a.m., followed by the women’s match at 1:30 p.m. This will be the team’s season opener for women’s soccer.

A PacWest doubleheader will conclude the 2014 season. HNU will face Dominican with the men’s and women’s teams playing back-to-back on Saturday, November 8.

HNU Women’s Volleyball

On Friday, September 5, at 1:30 p.m., HNU women’s volleyball head coach Ali Oliver starts her second season managing the Hawks. HNU opens the 2014 season against San Francisco State during the Route 92 Tournament at Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont. The Hawks play a second match on September 5 at 4:30 p.m. against Carson-Newman at NDNU.

The Hawks continue the Route 92 Tournament on Saturday, September 6 at 11:30 a.m., where they face the Cal State East Bay Pioneers. The Hawks will plan a second match on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against California Baptist in Hayward.

The home opener for HNU takes place at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 12, against Chaminade in a non-conference match. HNU will then face California Baptist again on Thursday, September 18, to open PacWest play in Riverside at 7 p.m.

A highlight of the schedule is a seven-match, PacWest home-stand starting on September 27, and concluding on Thursday Oct. 9.

On Thursday, November 13, HNU’s season finale takes place at Tobin Gymnasium on HNU’s campus. The HNU Hawks finish the 2014 season with a home matchup against NDNU.
