Jim Durbin Memorial
The Holy Names University community mourns the loss of Associate Professor, Director of the MBA Program, and Chair of the Business Department, Jim Durbin, who died unexpectedly September 11, 2011. He has been a true colleague and friend to many of us since his arrival on campus in 1979.
HNU will hold a celebration of Jim’s life on Friday, September 16, at 2 PM in McLean Chapel. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends are invited to attend. There will be a reception following the service in the Bay Vista Room.
As the Director of Holy Names University’s MBA Program, Jim Durbin was responsible for admissions, advising, academic plans and graduation requirements for the MBA Program. He was also an academic advisor for traditional undergraduate Business students and Adult Business students.
Here at HNU, he taught both undergraduate and graduate students in Accounting and Marketing, and had over 20 years of professional business experience. Jim worked in middle and senior management positions with large organizations such as Arthur Andersen and Company, LLP, Bank of America, United States Leasing International (New York Stock Exchange), USL Capital Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Ford Financial Services, Mellon Bank, Mellon Financial Services, etc. He had owned a privately held $11 million building supply company as a principal, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer and was a California Real Estate Broker, having structured sales and financings for residential and commercial properties.
