Author Jerry McGill Visits HNU to Discuss His Book, "Dear Marcus: A Letter to the Man Who Shot Me" Author Jerry McGill visited HNU on November 11 to discuss his book, Dear Marcus: A Letter to the Man Who Shot Me, the 2015 University Common Reading selection. In his book, McGill wrote about what happened to him at the age of 13, when an unknown assailant shot him in the back, and how he recovered from that incident to build the life he has now.

San Francisco Giants Front Office Executives Speak at HNUThe Asia Pacific Peace Studies Program at HNU hosted two members of the San Francisco Giants front office at a special event on campus on November 10. Shana Daum, vice president of public affairs and community relations, and Yeshayah Goldfarb, director of minor league operations and quantitative analysis, spoke about their careers and their work to a full crowd in the Studio Theater of the Valley Center for the Performing Arts.

Ambassador Lewis Lukens Visits HNU to Speak About Careers in the Foreign Service
Lewis Lukens, recently the U.S. ambassador to Senegal and Guinea-Bissau and currently the U.S. State Department's diplomat in residence for the Northwest, visited HNU on November 19 to deliver a presentation about careers in the U.S. Foreign Service.

Students and Staff Attend the Northern Residential Activities and Programs Conference
Justin Vacca, director of housing and residence life at HNU, and 12 student resident assistants (RAs) attended the Northern Residential Activities and Programs (NRAP) conference at CSU Sacramento on October 31. NRAP is one of three regional organizations, in addition to the central and southern organizations, that belong to the Western Association of College University Housing Officers (WACUHO).

HNU Donor Appreciation Event Celebrates Philanthropy
HNU Donor Appreciation Event Celebrates PhilanthropyThe fall HNU donor appreciation event on Sunday, November 15 honored alumni and friends who have contributed to the HNU Fund. More than 60 donors attended the event, which preceded an HNU Orchestra performance that included the premier of a revised version of From the Ground Up, by American composer John M. Kennedy, PhD, and works by Handel and Dvořák. Several HNU students, many of whom work in the University's phonathon program, assisted with the event and welcomed donors to the reception.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its 2015-16 Oracle/ITA Division II Fall Rankings. The Holy Names University men's tennis team was ranked #33.
