Students of Concern Committee
The Students of Concern Committee provides a confidential support system for early intervention of at-risk students.
Members of the team include representatives from:
- Academic Affairs
- Counseling & Psychological Services
- Campus Life
- Campus Safety
- Residence Life
- Campus Ministry
The purpose of the Committee is to:
- Promote the health and safety of students and the campus community
- Provide a structure for a systematic response to students’ behavior that may be disruptive in the classroom or other areas of the campus
- To develop strategies to assist students of concern
- To support student success
Make a referral and provide the necessary information. Understanding the context for a referral is important to providing the best possible support and the most appropriate follow-up, therefore anonymous forms will not be accepted. We will maintain your confidentiality to the extent that we are able. In some cases you may be contacted for additional information about the concerning behavior
Professional ethics as well as law dictate that referrals to the Students of Concern Committee are confidential. Faculty/staff members and other referring parties often have an understandable desire to know whether any progress is being made in assisting the referred student. As the Students of Concern Committee is not permitted to report back to the referring parties, we encourage you to follow up with the student directly to provide further support and to gather any desired information.
