Colosseo (Anfeteatro Flavio)

Colosseo (Anfeteatro Flavio)

A brief student mutiny, taking their case to Archeologist Giuseppe explaining that Chiara and Andy planned NOT entering the colosseum. Students and Archeologist won. Lots of sketches and writing produced by students outside and inside colosseo.

Good for them!!! I will be interested to hear the rationale for NOT going in. Are you rethinking your intinerary? Do they feel empowered to make greater alterations to the schedule?

    • Andrew Rosequist says:

Students have blocks of “free” time and they are oriented enough now to begin straying on their own. A few are even leading as around as we go!

The itinerary is constantly changeling (forced to adapt due to street protest two days ago, public transport half strike today)

Thank you for providing insights on the trip. It would be great to read a blog post or two written by one of the Prizers. I wonder how many of them are connecting the trip to the 7th grade history standards and information they learned during that year of education. I have traveled to Rome and was amazed at just how little my images compared to the actual historical sites. Night and Day!

In addition to the architecture are students exploring the cultural understanding of their Americanness in Italy? I know that often are understanding of the world is narrowed by our geographic positioning however now the students have crossed numerous geographic boundaries that include cultural boundaries as well.
