CANTICLE FARM WORK PARTY
SATURDAY, 2/7/2015 10AM - 1:30PM
Let's go be with the garden and visionaries!
Transportation and a Meal Provided
On the first Saturday of each month, friends help maintain and harvest the bountiful gifts of the earth that Canticle Farm community plants, grows and shares with their neighbors.
Inspired by the life of Francis of Assisi, Canticle Farm manifests a commitment to living and working towards sustainable alternatives through spiritual practice, integral nonviolence, gift economy, restorative practices, urban permaculture, education and other work necessary for regenerating community in the 21st Century.
How do we define community?
Shared workspace or classroom
Does our community include more-than-human friends?
Do we exploit the planet or embrace of the planet?
Ruin Nature or respect Nature?
Our choice reverberates both in the present and in the future!
Canticle Farm is a community organization in Oakland working to reimagine what community is through conversation and quiet, food and farming. Every Friday night the community at Canticle Farm invites its diverse neighbors from near and far into their home, Casa de Paz, for meditation, sharing, and a meal. Once a month, Canticle Farm welcomes its neighbors to help harvest its crops and work the land; yes, there is a vibrant urban farm tucked away in an Oakland side street. However you choose to participate, the experiences will introduce you to new understandings of people and place.
Save the dates for future work parties: 3/7, 4/4, 5/2
