Commencement Guide for 2012

Dear Student:

Congratulations! You are almost there. Please review the following information carefully to make certain you are ready to graduate this coming spring. Do not hesitate to ask questions, but also know that attending the meetings and meeting the deadlines is your responsibility.

The information you need to know, and the things you need to do, are listed below:

Academic Attire

Academic attire consists of black gown (size determined by height and weight), mortar board cap (one size fits all), tassel and degree-specific hood. Learn more...

To participate in the HNU Commencement Ceremony, you must wear the appropriate academic attire. To order academic attire, you must attend one of the commencement meetings and submit your order no later than March 28, 2012.

All questions should be submitted to Andrea Melrose, Assistant Director of Student Life (unfortunately, there is a charge if you miss the deadline because we have to special order the regalia).

Your academic attire will be available for you to pick up:

  • April 30 – May 8 , 2012 in the University Book Store during normal business hours.
  • At the commencement rehearsal on May 9, 2012.

The store is willing to work with you to set up special arrangements if you need to pick up after May 9th or need to have a friend or colleague pick up on your behalf. Please contact the store for any such arrangements (510-436-1576).

Academic attire is yours to keep - you do not have to return your cap, gown, tassel or hood after the Commencement Ceremony.
