The Mother Marie Rose Seminar for Social Justice – Tutwiler Mississippi
Annually, students and staff from Holy Names University travel to Tutwiler, Mississippi during spring break to work with Sisters of the Holy Names and to build homes with Habitat for Humanity.
On the way to Tutwiler, the students spent time Memphis visiting the Civil Rights Museum and the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.
Participating students describe this trip as life-changing. The connection to the Sisters of the Holy Names, the opportunity to experience and be of service to the community of Tutwiler, and the opportunities to create something of lasting impact by building a home, inspire and motivate students to deepen their commitment to social justice and service and to better understand themselves and their connection to their own and the larger community
