On November 27, Holy Names University will participate in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving, supported largely by social media and collaboration. Every dollar raised will provide welcome financial aid for HNU students in need.
Celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday allows participants to shift their focus from shopping and spending (á la Black Friday and Cyber Monday) to kick off the charitable giving season in a big way. Though it has only existed since 2012, the movement has elicited millions of online gifts, has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for charitable causes, and is recognized in nearly 100 countries. To learn more about the global #GivingTuesday movement, visit www.givingtuesday.org.
HNU has participated in #GivingTuesday twice before—in 2014 and 2015—and raised $11,000 and $10,000, respectively.
This year, a record number of HNU students come from low socio-economic backgrounds. Nearly half are from families living at or below the poverty line, and all qualify for financial aid. With a few simple clicks, you can help to shape their futures.
