HNU announced that Interim President Jeanie Watson, PhD, has agreed to extend her contract through the 2017-2018 academic year, and that Vice President for Academic Affairs Lizbeth Martin, PhD, has been promoted to the position of provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Chair of the HNU Board of Trustees Barbara Hood ’70, MPA, shared the following message with the University community:
“We believe the extension of President Watson’s presidency will provide important strong leadership and stability for the University, while giving us the time and opportunity to conduct a national search for a permanent president. We are very pleased that she has agreed to remain with us.
Beth Martin’s promotion to provost and vice president for academic affairs will include the operations of the University Advancement Office. Throughout her career here, Beth as already performed many of the key tasks required for leading the Advancement Office. She possesses an in-depth knowledge of our institution and its many constituents. She has built long-term relationships with multiple University major donors and is highly respected by them. Now, she will have the opportunity to build upon this base to seek and grow external funding resources for the University. In addition, she has the administrative and management experience necessary for these new responsibilities. We are delighted that she has agreed to serve in this capacity.
We also want to give sincere thanks to Theresa Nelson who has served as Interim Vice President for University Advancement. She has provided excellent leadership and support during this interim period and will remain with us in the capacity of an advancement consultant until the end of November 2016.”
