Holy Names University in Oakland, CA is seeking qualified applicants to become Dean of the recently formed School of Business and Applied Social Sciences. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2019, with the possibility of beginning earlier (e.g., January 1).
The School of Business and Applied Social Sciences at Holy Names University encompasses seven undergraduate majors (in Accounting, Business, Criminology, International Relations, Politics & History, Psychology, Sociology), and four graduate degree programs (in Counseling and Forensic Psychology, Educational Therapy, and an MBA). As the chief academic and administrative officer charged with advancing these core values for the School, the Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and is responsible for oversight of all academic and instructional services through the management and oversight of budgets, contracts, scheduling and personnel. In addition, the Dean will provide academic leadership to foster a commitment to excellence in teaching, service and scholarship amongst the faculty and for developing and implementing an educational vision for the School that advances its reputation throughout the Bay Area. The dean will also be involved with community engagement and fundraising efforts at the University.

Applicants should have:
§ A PhD or comparable degree from an accredited institution in one of the disciplines represented in the School
§ A minimum of 4 years administrative experience at the level of chair or higher in higher education with a demonstrated record of success in fiscal, personnel, and programmatic management
§ Undergraduate- or graduate-level teaching experience
§ A commitment to shared governance
§ A commitment to promoting diversity in all its forms and an ability to interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse community
