HNU Announces Appointment of Interim President, Jeanie Watson, PhD
HNU announces the appointment of Jeanie Watson, PhD, as interim president. She will assume her duties on August 11, 2016. Watson has held leadership positions at Nebraska Wesleyan University, Tulane University, Hamline University, and Southwestern University, and has been a member of the teaching faculty at many others. "We are excited that Dr. Watson will be leading the University and contributing to this institution from her impressive breadth of experience and many leadership roles in higher education," said Chair of the HNU Board of Trustees Barbara Hood ’70, MPA. →
HNU Welcomes Alan Liebrecht as New Vice President for Enrollment Management
HNU announces the appointment of Alan Liebrecht as vice president for enrollment management. Prior to his appointment at HNU, Liebrecht served as dean of admission services at Marymount California University in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. During his time at Marymount California University, he significantly increased the university's applicant pool and number of completed applications, developed and implemented new recruitment and retention strategies, and participated in both institutional accreditation processes and strategic planning initiatives. →
HNU Welcomes Michael Groener as New Vice President for Finance and Administration
HNU announces the appointment of Michael Groener as vice president for finance and administration. Groener joined HNU on July 29, 2016. Before his appointment at HNU, Groener served as CFO and vice president of finance at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, where he oversaw finance and business affairs, human resources, IT, and risk management. →

HNU Community Helps Provide Clean Water for Four Schools in Tamil Nadu, India
Throughout fall 2014, the Asia Pacific Peace Studies Institute (APPSI) and the Associated Students of HNU (ASHNU) organized a fundraiser to accompany the University's Water Justice campaign, in cooperation with the nonprofit WaterBridge Outreach: Books + Water. Thanks to the partnership between WaterBridge and dedicated HNU students, faculty, and staff, the students at four schools in Tamil Nadu, India, now have access to fresh drinking water during the hot school days. →
Sr. Sophia's New Book, Border-Crossing Spirituality, Explores 'Being In Between'
Sophia Park, SNJM, PhD, assistant professor of religious studies and philosophy at HNU, has had her new book, Border-Crossing Spirituality: Transformation in the Borderland, published by Pickwick Publications in Eugene, Oregon. The book is an examination of how crossing borders—cultural, geopolitical, relational, or existential—is a significant and potentially jarring experience, albeit one that can provide opportunities for spiritual growth. →
HNU Donor Spotlight: Adrienne Harley ’66
Longtime donor Adrienne Harley graduated from Holy Names College with a bachelor's degree in biological science in 1966. She is a licensed clinical laboratory scientist who has worked as senior technologist at Bancroft Medical Laboratory in San Leandro, California, and at the Pathology Institute in Berkeley, California. Harley was kind enough to answer questions about why she loves HNU and why it's important to her to give back to the University. →

HNU Advances to Active Membership Status for NCAA Division II
Holy Names University successfully completed the NCAA membership process and is now one of four new members of NCAA Division II; the three other institutions include Mississippi College, Rogers State University (Okla.), and Southern Wesleyan University (S.C.). The first athletic contest for HNU as an active member takes place on Friday, September 2 when the Hawks women's volleyball team plays at Notre Dame de Namur University in the Route 92 Showdown in Belmont, California. →
Adrienne Beltrami Named Head Coach for HNU Women's Volleyball
Holy Names University announces the hiring of Adrienne Beltrami as head coach for the institution's women's volleyball program. Entering her 15th year of coaching, Beltrami comes to HNU after serving as owner/director and coach for Pulse Volleyball Club in her hometown of Ripon, California. →
Harlan Lopez Named Head Coach for HNU Men's and Women's Cross Country
Holy Names University announces the hiring of Harlan Lopez to serve as head coach of the institution's men's and women's cross country teams. Lopez previously served as a graduate assistant for HNU's men's cross country team. Lopez has served as the head distance coach for Diablo Valley track and field since 2004, where he's led 57 runners to the USATF Junior Olympics. →
